Two Red Barns

Oil on canvas on panel, 6 x 6 in. -  Sold

Yesterday, I joined the local artist group in Ellensburg, and painted with them at the house of a member. I found a nice shade where I could paint these farm buildings from. I emphasized the color intensity for this painting. After painting in the morning, we had a picnic in the backyard, and showed what we painted. It was fun.

Pink & Green Houses

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.

This is a painting I did outside of my home studio in Ellensburg, WA, just before we left for Bishop, CA. I modified the position of the green house to fit in the compostion better. It was a race with the sun light, but I really wanted to capture the nice and warm glow of the sun light on the buidings.

Red Barn in Cattle Field

Oil on canvas, 8x10 in, SOLD
I painted this in my neighborhood. I like the spaciousness of this field. There is a nice bike pass along this field, and I enjoy taking a walk here for inspirations.

Saturday Afternoon

6 x 6 in, oil on gessoboard

It often gets windy in Ellensburg especially in the spring. It's usually too cold to paint outside around this time of the year. But it was relatively calm and warmer outside this afternoon.

"Palouse Vistas" Show

During December, I painted in my studio almost all day, everyday, to create new pieces for my upcoming shows. My paintings of Palouse landscapes, including the plein air studies, were featured at the Clymer Museum of Art in Ellensburg, WA, during January. Please visit my website to view a sample of my featured works.

Stop and Paint the Flowers

I've been doing small plein air paintings of various things around home as studies for larger paintings I will do in my studio during the snowy winter. One day, I was doing paintings of some flowers in the yard.

Then, sooner or later, our chickens joined me, by hanging out on my lap, and even posing for me as extras.

"Sweet Ellensburg" at Paint Ellensburg

On September 19th, I participated in the event called, Paint Ellensburg, hosted by Gallery One. I did an oil painting of an African Grey Parrot on a bench (10"x8") in one day. First I did a plein air painting (outdoor painting) of the purple bench on Perl Street, then I did a life painting of Sweets the African Grey inside the studio of her owners, across from that bench. This painting, "Sweet Ellensburg," was sold at the live auction in the same evening.

Ellensburg, Why Not

I am drawn to historic architecture, and I enjoy the ambiance of downtown Ellensburg. So, I like painting in the downtown areas in various part of Washington.
