Green Window

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

This is another painting I did at the same corner, but from a different angle. I loved the reflections of green leaves of the trees on the old fashioned windows.

Corner Flowers

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.

I painted this at the intersection of Grand Ave. and Main St. in downtown Pullman, WA a few years ago, but didn't get to post it before. It was so noisy and the car exhaust was so bad, that I figured that it was not worth painting at a busy street corner. I was still in a shade to stay away from heat.

Shoreline

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.

I painted this in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho last summer, and touched it up. It was overcast and raining from time to time when I was painting this, and it was certainly not the most ideal condition for painting outdoors. It initially turned out to be lacking value contrast. So I added highlights on the shoreline in the background, and I added skyline.

Kiki & Flowers

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.- SOLD

I painted this a while ago, based on a photo of our pet chicken, Kiki. I added the flowers in a pot. I actually painted the flower post and background from life after painting Kiki.

Grey Cabin in the Sierras

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.-- SOLD

One afternoon, we drove up to a small town called Aspendale, just outside of Bishop, CA. It's in the Sierra Nevada. It was nice and cool up there, but still very warm in the sun. So I found a little shade by a tree, and did a couple of small paintings in a row.

Lakeside Beach

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

On the way back from Bishop, CA, We took a detour to Chico, a town where my husband's brother Brent lives. It was about five hour drive though the Sierra Nevada. My husband was nice to stop at the lakeside of Lake Tahoe for my painting break. It was a very clear and calm day, and the reflections on the water was amazing. There was a little girl on the beach with her mother. Her bright pink dress caught my attention. I started painting these figures first while I had a chance, then I painted the surrounding.

Bird on the Fence

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

Another landscape of Bishop, CA. Here's unusual view of White Mountains in May with snow on the top. I added the red fence to accentuate the image to contrast the green cattle field.

Robin & Bird Houses

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

For the first few days of our stay in Bishop, we spent most of the day at home. There are so many interesting scenes to paint in the backyard. I painted this one in front of the main entrance door. There are a quite few bird nesting boxes around the house. But none of them are for the robins. They nest in custom made baskets.

Home with Garden

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

My husband, Peter, is from Bishop, CA. We drove from Ellensburg, WA, to Bishop to see his family, and staying here since Friday. We'll be here for about a week. This is a view of their home from the backyard. The Purple figure in the picture is Peter's Dad. He showed up in the garden while I was painting. His purple shirt made a nice contrast with the yellow flowers and orange roofs. His appearance completed the composition for this painting.

Pink & Green Houses

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.

This is a painting I did outside of my home studio in Ellensburg, WA, just before we left for Bishop, CA. I modified the position of the green house to fit in the compostion better. It was a race with the sun light, but I really wanted to capture the nice and warm glow of the sun light on the buidings.
