Laptop Rooster
Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 in.-- Click here to bid
This is our Welsummer rooster, Leo. We got him along with two other female chicks a couple of years ago from a hatchery when they were a-day old. Whenever I pick him up and put my lap, he likes to stretch his neck, draping down on my lap, and just relax with his eyes closed. My sweet rooster, thus the title. This painting is based on a photo I took when he was just a few month old. Leo's face was still yellowish at that stage, and it turned more red as he matured. I used orange and it's complementary blue, plus red-orange and yellow-orange.

Rooster on the Bench
6 x 6 in, oil on linen on panel --
I painted this from a photo of our beloved Black Australorp rooster, Matsu. He is a very loyal bodyguard of our hens. He would forage for bugs and grass in the yard, and always offer his treat to the girls first. One day, I caught this busy guy resting on the bench.

Baby Meenie
Oil on linen on panel, 6" x 6" -- Click here to bid
This is another baby chick from my photo collection. I love the posture of the chick. This Rhode Island Red chick used to belong to our friends in Pullman. They thought this chick was female, until it started crowing like a rooster in the summer. Since it's not allowed to keep roosters within the city limit, this baby rooster was adopted by their friends who wanted a pet rooster.

This is another rooster painting. The model is Matsu, our pet rooster. Matsu is our Australope rooster we used to have. He was my super model for painting, and always visited me in my studio. He loved to pose in front of camera.
