Rabbitbrush No. 2

This is another plein air study of rabbitbrush. I painted it just after the other piece as a quick study. It was just before sunset. I knew I didn't have much time, but I wanted to capture the light. In fact, the sun set in the middle of my painting session, and the scene in front of me got in the shade of the Sierra. So I kept going for a while based on my painting memory, but I finished it in the studio later. I made the edges of the background as soft as possible without losing the suggestion of the boulders on the front hill. I tried to desaturate the background in order to enhance the golden glow of the rabbitbrush in foreground.
