Riding Windy and Brown

Oil on linen on panel, 10 x 8 inches --

I participated in the Annual Fresh Air Artists Festival last week in Central Washington. This is basically a plein air festival and competition in painting and poetry. I painted this piece, "Riding Windy and Brown," from life in a couple of hours by the Roslyn Riders Club Arena. There were a bunch of horses and mules for the artists to paint in the morning. These two local riders posed for us throughout the morning session, although it was getting very hot toward noon.

One of the horses is named Windy because she was born on a windy day. The other one is Brown. These two cowgirls were riding Windy and Brown, and that how I titled this painting.

There was an artist reception and award ceremony for this plein air festival show. This painting won an award. See my Facebook page for more pictures.

This painting is framed and available at the Carpenter House Art Gallery in Cle Elum, WA. Contact me for purchase inquiry.
