Yellow Shed & Tractor

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 8 in.

I painted this yellow shed and a green tractor in Roslyn, WA. I wanted to capture the warm afternoon sun light on the yellow wall and metallic roof. I juxtaposed the tractor to accentuate the composition. For outdoor painting, my main focus is the colors rather than details of objects. I added just enough information to suggest that the green object in the center is a tractor.
This week's DPW Challenge is the Yellow Challenge. Yellow signifies warmth. I love this time of the year in the Pacific Northwest, when it gets warm and daylight gets longer. It really makes me want to go outside and paint. Yellow energizes me to paint.
