I painted this based on a photo of our pet house sparrow, Tobi, checking out the apple. Then, I composed the still life stage in my shadow box to recreate the scene without the bird. She seems very interested in the new apple on the counter, but skeptical about how she could eat it. This is a great metaphor of my feeling when handling an apple as a still life model.
