Green Apple & Silver Pitcher

Oil on linen on panel, 6 x 6 inches --

This is an apple from our apple tree in the backyard. It was so windy the other day that a large part of this tree broke off, splitting from the trunk. A bunch of apples are still on the branches. There were probably too many apples and the tree could not support the weight. So I decided to paint this apple to celebrate the tree. I used a silver pitcher to create reflections of the apple, and to make the composition more interesting.
