Taste of Spring

Taste of Spring, oil on hardboard, 6" x 6" x 3/4".
I was planning to work on studio painting today. But instead I ended up spending the afternoon painting this study in our backyard. Although it tends to get very windy in Ellensburg during Spring, the weather is getting so nice and warm, and things are getting more colorful outside. I saw the neighbor's horse grazing on the other side of the fence, and I wanted to paint the horse. But by the time I finished a quick sketch of the composition, the horse disappeared. So I ended up just sampling the colors of the Spring for my studio painting.
